As his popularity reached a four-year low point, Putin had to rework the proposal to raise pension age that was stealthily submitted under the patriotic atmosphere of the FIFA World Cup in 2018. Even the blindest voters did notice it, so pension age for women will be raised to 60 instead of 63, while for men, it will remain unchanged and stay 65 years. Since the life expectancy of Russian men is around that age (as most of them die earlier) and it is far below than women’s, this way – on average – pension basically becomes non-existent for men, while women can enjoy 15 years of retirement… Another sign that this ‘Mordor-esque’ autocracy will last is that there is budgetary rationality in it – they only give the minimum to voters, propaganda is far cheaper than developing public health. That money is stolen instead.
